Managing Director - Research & Development 

John, with his partner Catherine King, developed and operationalised LINCS Healthcare®. He is responsible for the effective leadership, vision, and management of the company, and for professional support of Allied Health staff across Brisbane North, Brisbane South and the Sunshine Coast. John is also responsible for marketing, finance, sales, communication, research and development – key areas include:

  • Strategic operational management, budget control and funding 

  • Ensuring Legislative Compliance

  • Ensuring the company meets and exceeds accreditation standards 

  • Human Resources 

  • Change Management 

  • Relationship management - within the community and with regulators

  • Staff management and the management of the working environment

  • The management and development of policies and procedures

John has a strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement. He has a solid understanding of the Aged Care Act 1997 and Aged Care Accreditation Standards. He provides strategic leadership and development of health service and health related partnerships, in line with National, State, and District policy directions to ensure optimal health outcomes for patients, clients and consumers.

As the Managing Director and part owner of the company, John’s role requires him to maintain and develop the strategic direction of operations, resources, financial performance and is directly involved in strategy formulation and business planning. John’s experience in strategic, operational, fiscal and risk management has enabled him to direct the company in new and exciting areas, enabling the development of new and important business opportunities for the company, these include the implementation of new contracts and service agreements with a growing list of organisations in need of our services. His ability to develop, monitor and deliver strategic direction (plans, business plans, KPIs, budgets, policies, processes, delegations) enables him to achieve organisational success for the company.

 

His qualifications and experience involve:
  • Highly developed leadership skills and a commitment to delivering a high quality service

  • Second-to-none communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders, internal and external to the business, and in the public forum.Tertiary qualifications in Sociology, Psychology, Business Management, Organisational Behaviour and Education.

    • Delivering papers in national and international forums
    • Reviewer of papers for international journals
    • Lecturer at tertiary universities
  • Research and publications in the areas of employee commitment, perceptions, change management and negotiation, psychological contracts, community case management and healthcare modelling.

John also has experience in project management planning, implementation and monitoring and the ability to balance the need for strategic innovation with operational and organisational stability.

He is an effective communicator with all levels of government, departments, people and communities. John also has a very strong commitment to social justice and human rights, and is self motivated and committed.


Invitations:

John is often invited to submit reviews and comments to various Institutions. 

Among his invitations are one from the Australian Federal Government, one from the American Psychological Association and one from the Oxford Round Table.

 

1) Australian Federal Govt:

In 2003, De-Anne Kelly (MP) Chair, The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Employment and Workplace Relations, invited John to contribute a written submission on the issue ‘Inquiry into employment: Increasing participation in paid work'. 2) The American Psychological Association:

John was also invited by the American Psychological Association to review a book for their prestigious Journal ‘Contemporary Psychology: The APA Review of Books'. 3) The Oxford Round Table:

The Oxford Round Table, which is affiliated with Oxford University in the UK, invited John to be part of a panel discussion on ‘Diversity and the National Interest'. Inclusion in the round table discussions at Oxford University is by invitation only. John was asked to be part of a select group (40 people) from around the world to present a paper selected from a range of issues stemming from the topic of ‘Diversity and the National Interest'. Due to time constraints John reluctantly declined the offer but indicated an interest in any future events, and which he was asked to contribute at a later time and event.

John has published in various forums, including:

  • International Employment Relations Forums 

  • Health Forums 

His most recent publication is with an International Health Journal in the U.S. - 'Home Healthcare Management and Practice' (2011). Title 'Whole of Client Healthcare in a Gridlocked System: An insider dialogue between the theory and practice of community case management', vol. 23(1), pp.36-49. 

 

He has presented papers at National and International levels, and is a reviewer of papers for various International Journals and Conferences including:

  • Pacific Employment Relations Association (PERA)

  • International Employment Relations Association (IERA)

  • Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM)
