Managing Director - Consultancy Services 

John, with his partner and wife Catherine King, developed and operationalised LINCS Healthcare. As one of the Managing Directors, John's area is Management and Health Research.

 

John provides Education and on-going training to Organisations around numerous issues including Management and Leadership, Organisational Psychology, Employee Commitment/Satisfaction, Hospital in the Home, and Innovative Pathways to Healthcare Delivery.

 

Background:

As a Sociologist, John comes to LINCS Healthcare from the world of Academia, specifically Monash University and, more recently, the University of Queensland. His areas of research and consultancy include health sociology, organisational psychology, and organisational behaviour.

John spent over 10 years in Universities developing courses, researching, and teaching in numerous areas, including: Sociology, Organisational Psychology, Management, Leadership, Social Work, and the Behavioral Sciences; and in various programs, including Undergraduate Degree Courses and Postgraduate Degree Programs such as Honours and Masters Programs.

Another key role of John's is sitting on panels for the Office of Higher Education to assess for accreditation Higher Education courses from various Universities and Colleges.

Membership in these panels is subject to Ministerial approval.


Invitations:

John is often invited to submit reviews and comments to various Institutions. 

His most recent invitations include one from the Australian Federal Government, one from the American Psychological Association and one from the Oxford Round Table.

 

1) Australian Federal Govt:

In 2003, De-Anne Kelly (MP) Chair, The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Employment and Workplace Relations, invited John to contribute a written submission on the issue ‘Inquiry into employment: Increasing participation in paid work'. John accepted the invitation and his submission was published as an EMP Inquiry Submission No. 71, pp.1-32. A copy of John's submission (number 71) is obtainable by visiting the following link.

2) The American Psychological Association:

John was also invited by the American Psychological Association to review a book for their prestigious Journal ‘Contemporary Psychology: The APA Review of Books'. John accepted this invitation and his review was published in this Journal in 2001, vol 46, 6, pp. 615-617.

 

3) The Oxford Round Table:

The Oxford Round Table, which is affiliated with Oxford University in the UK, invited John to be part of a panel discussion on ‘Diversity and the National Interest'. Inclusion in the round table discussions at Oxford University is by invitation only. John was asked to be part of a select group (40 people) from around the world to present a paper selected from a range of issues stemming from the topic of ‘Diversity and the National Interest'. Due to time constraints John reluctantly declined the offer but indicated an interest in any future events, and which he was asked to contribute at a later time and event.

 

Publications:

John has published in various forums, including: The American Psychological Association; The Australian Psychological Association; Sociological Forums and; International Employment Relations Forums. He has presented papers at National and International levels, and is a reviewer of papers for various International Journals and Conferences.
